Gerrie is accredited with DiSAC and CEDR and serves as a panellist on the Arbitration Forum of Southern Africa (AFSA) and a member of the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa). Gerrie also offers online mediation with disputes being resolved using online platforms such as Zoom, Skype, Microsoft teams, Whatsapp, FaceTime, and phone, ideally suited to commercial mediation, workplace mediation, disciplinary hearings, facilitation, and general meetings.

Mediation experience and style:

Gerrie has been mediating professionally since 2014 in both commercial and family mediation matters. He practices mediation with the aim of protecting the reputation of the mediation profession and to build and promote public confidence in mediation as an alternative dispute resolution process for resolving disputes. “We have a duty to ensure that mediations are conducted with integrity in an impartial manner”, says Gerrie. Gerrie believes in continual improvement and remains appropriately qualified with ongoing development as his mantra.

As a mediator, Gerrie is a neutral third party, not directly involved in the dispute or the substantive issues in question. This is a critical factor in conflict management and resolution, for it is the participation of an outsider that frequently provides parties with new perspectives on the issues dividing them and more effective processes to build problem-solving relationships.

Examples of Gerrie’s successful mediation work can be found in both the Public and Private sectors.

Gerrie has a passion for workplace mediation and labour mediation in assisting the parties, without admitting any liability, and on a purely commercial basis and to avoid long protracted litigation, to enter into agreements of settlement and in many cases preserve the Employee, Employer relationship.
